honeymoon spots

My personal Number 1 Top Honeymoon Spot overall is:

South East Queensland - Australia

You could honeymoon in practically any spot along the sunny coastline of South East Queensland, and not go wrong. I've done it myself, in fact twice! I've personally honeymooned on both the Sunshine Coast and the Gold Coast!

If you want want wide white sandy beaches that literally squeak through your toes when you walk on them, then nearly any spot along the coast will do. If you want to visit more "Worlds" and fun parks, you may prefer the Gold Coast to the Sunshine Coast.

The Sunshine Coast has UnderWater World.

The Gold Coast has Sea World, Dream World, and MovieWorld with the Wet 'n Wild Water Park next door. The Gold Coast also has lots of major shopping centers.

The most popular shopping centre is Pacifc Fair, near Jupiters casino, which is near the convention centre...

Central Gold Coast

which is the big low building in the above photo. Robina Shopping Town is also big... But you may need to ask a local to help you find it!

The Sunshine Coast has the large Sunshine Plaza at Maroochydore which is built directly on top of a little river.

Overall I prefer the Sunshine Coast as I think it's more beautiful and has a more peaceful atmosphere. Best locations on the Sunshine Coast are Hastings St, Noosa Heads. Maloolabah, and Caloundra.

Caloundra beach

But near the river at Cottentree /Maroochydore, half way up the Sunshine Coast, is also pretty nice. Caloundra is really looking great nowadays since the trees have grown up down the main street, and since they've beautified the esplanade.

All of these locations are must visits in MHO. Also if you can hire a car and are interested in taking a beautiful inland drive, it's worth taking a full day to visit Montville. It has one of the quaintest main tourist streets you'll find anywhere. It feels truly magical. Plus there's a glorious view at the top of the hill. You can see back to the Sunshine Coast over miles and miles of rolling green countryside.

Another nice little attraction on the Sunshine Coast is the house made of beerbottles at Tewantin. Also there's the ginger factory. There's also a pretty neat pineapple farm for visitors.

Nicest places on the Gold Coast are at the southern end at Coolangatta. If you're a surfer you will have heard of Snapper Rocks which is just along the beach from Coolangatta. There's a beautiful walking path where you can see right up the Coast if you walk around to Rainbow Beach and Snapper Rocks from Coolangatta.

Back in the middle of the Gold Coast be sure to also take a morning walk up to the bluff lookout at Burleigh Heads. This is the view looking south from the top.

Tallebudgera Creek

Also take the path that goes around the base of the bluff to complete the walk. This fantastic bush walk is right in the middle of the Gold Coast at Burleigh Heads, next to the beach. It's really nice, but at least 90% of tourists ignore it!

The Gold Coast has an international airport. The Sunshine Coast has a much smaller airport. On a world map, first, find Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. The Sunshine Coast is about 60 or 70 miles north of Brisbane, and the Gold Coast is about 60 miles south.

Each coast is one to two hours drive in either direction from Brisbane on smooth freeways. There is also a train service from the International and Interstate airport terminals in Brisbane down to the Gold Coast.

*Note: The above list is made up according to my own fancy - Top 10 countries according to the actual statistics for numbers of visitors or the amount of tourism dollars earned is totally different to how nice the locations actually are. Numbers of visitors are due to many factors, such as how well the places are known, advertised, their accessibility, etc. An actual visitor popularity list of countries usually looks something like this:

France (50,000,000 plus visitors a year)
USA
Italy
Spain
China
UK
Mexico
Canada
Poland
Greece
